Since the foundation of the Young Researchers in Life Sciences (YRLS) Federation in 2009, a life sciences conference covering a wide variety of disciplines is organized by motivated researchers from renowned Parisian research institutes each year. Today, the federation encompasses nine associations:

The YRLS conference features an interactive program that includes posters, talks, round tables and workshops to allow young researchers to present their ongoing work, learn from experts, actively engage in discussions with their peers and invited speakers, share their experience, exchange ideas and build new collaborations. Each year, we welcome more than 200 attendees from different countries with different scientific backgrounds. In 2017, the conference program included 32 oral presentations and 103 poster presentations given exclusively by young researchers, a roundtable on the future of scientific publishing, two workshops dedicated to data handling using biostatistics and career development in academia vs. industry, a scientific outreach session with high school students, a cultural event, a social event and a closing party. Photos from YRLS2017 can be found on our Facebook page.

This year, the YRLS conference will take place from the 2nd to 4th of May at the Jourdan campus of Ecole Normale Supérieure, in Paris. The selected disciplines include immunology and infectious diseases, genetics and epigenetics, cancer biology, neurosciences and physiology, microbiology and host-pathogen interactions, biochemistry and molecular biology, systems biology and bioinformatics, biophysics and chemical biology, ecology, evolution and development. We are also excited to have Dr. Amrit Mudher from the University of Southampton, U.K., Prof. Viola Vogel from ETH Zurich, Switzerland, and Dr. Duncan Odom from Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, U.K. as our confirmed speakers.

The registration will be open in February and a number of travel grants (5 for posters, 5 for talks) will be available for attendees with accepted abstracts that can be submitted online from the 5th of February until the 23rd of February.

We look forward to seeing you in Paris in May!
